We’re thrilled to celebrate our incredible scholar mathematicians who shone brightly at the 18th Annual Math Bonanza competition for grades fourth through eighth!

This exciting event brings together schools from across the state to compete and reward excellence in mathematics. This year, over 100 talented students participated, showcasing their problem-solving skills and mathematical brilliance.

A special congratulations to twelve of our scholars who achieved top honors, placing first through third in their grade levels!

Congratulations to six outstanding Thomas Jefferson High School scholars who achieved remarkable success at the 26th Annual Math Fall Classic!

This year’s competition brought together over 100 students from across the state, all showcasing their exceptional mathematical skills. Thomas Jefferson scholars had an incredible day, earning a total of eighteen top three placement awards—nine of which were first-place finishes!

We’d like to give special recognition to our scholars who placed first through third in their grade level for their impressive achievements.

Your hard work, perseverance, and athleticism throughout the season culminated in this remarkable achievement. Competing at the state level is no small feat, and we celebrate your dedication and success.

Congratulations to Decatur High School football coach, Evan Cook, for being selected as the Seattle Seahawks Week 9 High School Coach of the Week!

A proud Federal Way Public Schools alumnus and National Champion with Eastern Washington University, Coach Cook has been instrumental in leading Decatur to an undefeated 9-0 regular season and securing their postseason spot.

Each week, the Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches Association recognize two high school football coaches for their exceptional leadership, along with a $500 donation to the school's football program. Evan is among 20 distinguished coaches who will be celebrated at a Seahawks home game, where one will be named Coach of the Year.

Congratulations to Decatur High School's Band Director, Jeff Chang, for being honored with the Dr. William P. Foster Project Community Development Award!

Jeff was one of only 75 teachers nominated nationwide and was chosen as the distinguished honoree for the Northwestern Division, which spans five states. This award is a testament to his unwavering dedication to music education and the profound impact he has on students, fostering a sense of community and belonging through the "music family" at Decatur High School.

The Dr. William P. Foster Project, a collaboration among the Music Education Alliance, National Band Association, College Band Directors National Association, and Music for All, supports band directors in underserved and under-resourced communities. As part of this recognition, Jeff will be celebrated at several prestigious national forums during the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.

This award also brings valuable resources to Decatur High School, including instruments, accessories, and access to expert clinicians, generously provided by Conn-Selmer Instruments, Yamaha Music Corporation, and KHS America.
